Didja Know ... ?

  • Lou was born Luigi Sacco in a Pittsburgh, PA suburb.

  • Lou co-wrote many of his hits with
Twyla Herbert.  She was twenty years older, and her classical music background contributed to the success of their songs.

  • His goal in High School was to cut a record and get on American Bandstand.

  • His hit Lightnin' Strikes went to #1 in 1966.  Lou feels part of the reason was its unusual structure.  It was four different "sounds" to it.

  • It was knocked out of the top spot on the singles chart by Nancy Sinatra's These Boots Are Made For Walkin'.

  • Lou's 1966 hit Rhapsody In The Rain was banned on many radio stations for suggestive lyrics.  He went back into the studio and changed the line "And in this car, our love went much too far" to "And in this car, love came like a falling star."
